Tambuah Mas Indonesian Restaurant, Paragon

For good and affordable Indo fix, head on down to Tambuah Mas and I assure you won't be disappointed. My first visit on 29th December 2011.

1. Crackers and Peanuts

Charged at $1.50.

2. Tahu Telor

Huge portion. Highly recommended dish. Charged at $9.00.

3. Gado-gado

Not a huge fan so didn't enjoy it much. But, I got feedback it's much better the one served at Bayang, Clark Quay. Charged at $7.00.

4. Ikan Nila Goreng

Expected it to be fried fish soaked in homemade sweet-spicy dark sauce. Instead, the sauce came separately. However, a good thing was that the staff didn't not stinge on the sauce and were more than willing when we asked for a refill. Charged at $22.00.

5. Udang Petai Belado

Prawns stir fried with Petai beans in chili paste. The prawns are fresh and the petai beans are fried just right. Recommended dish. Charged at $13.50.

6. Kangkong Belachan

A must-try dish for me anywhere and everywhere. The spiciness of sambal used was shiok. Much better than the dish at Balithai which was more sweet then spicy. Loved it! Charged at $9.00.

7. Sambal Tempe

Fermented soybean stir-fried in spices with beancurd and long beans. Dish was average. Basic indo dish you can't go wrong with. Charged at $6.50.

8. Drinks and desserts

Es Cendol Kacang: Fresh coconut milk used. Typical indo dessert worth trying. Charged at $4.50.

Air Serai(homemade): Try only if you're a fan of lemongrass. I clearly wasn't. Charged at $3.50.

Es Gula Melaka: Sago chunks in coconut milk and palm sugar. Charged at $4.00.

Es Teler: Tropical medley of avocado, jackfruit and young coconut meat in coconut milk. Expected it to be sweet but ended up being fruity so got gula melaka added to it. Go for it if you're being adventurous yet trying to be healthy. Charged at $5.50.

Worth mentioning that Nasi Puteh (rice) is free flow. Service was excellent. Wet towels are charged at $0.30.

Total spent was $110 for 3 persons.

To note though, you might want to make a reservation before you head down for a meal as there were easily 10 people waiting to be seated when I entered. There is another branch at Tanglin Mall which is pretty deserted. I guess, this explains why Paragon branch is packed. Marina Square branch has closed down.
